Let’s Talk EDM: That’s Email Marketing, not Electronic Dance Music
If I asked, could you name someone that doesn’t have an email address?
I think at best it would be one person - maybe a whacky family member who thinks the internet is part of a “conspiracy”, or maybe your 98-year-old nan.
Everyone has an email.
Most of us have multiple (unless you’re Netflix and then I just have one…).
Recent statistics put email use at 4.4 BILLION people worldwide - that’s over half the population, and that number is expected to continue to rise. So with that number in mind, why aren’t you capitalising on this and marketing your business via emails?
Don’t get me wrong we love a strong social media strategy, but if you’re selling online, using online bookings, or looking to generate any kind of revenue or business in the online sphere then your strategy means shit without an email marketing arm.
Here are a few interesting things you should know about email marketing:
According to the Data & Marketing Association, email marketing boasts an average ROI of $42 for every $1 spent. That's a 4200% return on your investment *CHA-CHING*
79% of marketers list email marketing in their top 3 forms of effective marketing
A 2022 MailChimp report showed that email marketing has a click-through rate of 3% when compared to Instagram ads which have a click-through rate of between 0.33-0.88% (Sprout Social)
It can be as simple as a follow-up email after service or they can be complex flows that follow your customer journey from cart abandonment to purchase. Email newsletters are another great way to keep in touch with your clients without being in their inbox every day. They’re a great way to grow or maintain relationships, even during times when people aren’t actively making purchasing decisions. Not only does it help foster a stronger client/business relationship, but it builds brand loyalty and trust.
But where do you start?
There are some amazing email marketing platforms out there, some of which are free, and you may even find that there is an email platform built into your website (hey, Squarespace we’re looking at you), so accessing this type of marketing isn’t hard or particularly pricey.
That said, it can be overwhelming to know where to start.
Lead generation.
Email lists and segments.
Email flows.
A/B testing.
These are all helpful parts of crafting a solid email marketing strategy, and all things that we help our clients with.
